GM Announces New Artistic Director — Dr. Joseph Holt
Principal Pianist for The United States Army Chorus – Dr. Joseph Holt — Named GM Artistic Director
Dr. Joseph Holt has been named Artistic Director of Gloria Musicae, effective April, 2010. As Music Director, Holt conducted Gloria Musicae in three concerts during the 2009-2010 season, including Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonnelle at the Sarasota Opera House in the spring of 2010.
Holt recently retired as the principal pianist for The United States Army Chorus and has served as Associate Conductor of the Choral Arts Society of Washington, D.C., and Director of Choral Activities at American University. During the millennium celebrations, Holt was one of ten conductors who prepared a chorus of 2,000 voices for a world première by Maury Yeston with the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. He holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, Shenandoah Conservatory, and the Catholic University of America.
